Peafowl
Better known as Peacocks, although that term only encompasses the male of the species, whose looks are iconic, these birds are native to South Asia, although there are introduced populations across the world. Peacocks’ impressive tails were once believed to attract mates, although a recent study found that females of the species, peahens, are not swayed one way or another by tail plumage. Now, it is suggested that the oversized tails are used to intimidate rivals.
This is the 90th bird! We’re gonna pretend like yesterday never happened.
